Know the Warning Signs!

In the past couple of years, all of us have experienced stresses that we never have encountered before. With all the uncertainty regarding COVID, politics, and social unrest, we have all endured more than we have ever expected.

Stress such as this can compound into anxiety and depression, which for some, can be unbearable enough, and find themselves attempting and passing away from suicide.

Graphic showing the statistics of suicide. States that suicide is the the 10th leading cause of death with more than 800,000 people dying from suicide each year.

Because it is often a taboo topic, many are unprepared when a suicide-related crisis happens. When a person attempts or passes away from suicide, their loved ones spiral over potential signs and lament over their inaction in spite of not really knowing what could have been done.

While we hope you never need these resources, we have compiled warning signs, actions to take in a mental health crisis, and additional downloadable and interactive resources.

Blue box with text on the warning signs of suicide. Text includes, "Increased alcohol use, aggressive behavior, withdrawal, dramatic mood swings..."
Yellow box with white text on how to be supportive during a crisis. Lists talking openly, acting calmly, expressing support and concern, refrain from arguing.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 immediately. Or if you are uncomfortable talking on the phone, you can chat the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988lifeline.org.
