Two teenagers were killed and four other people seriously injured Saturday when a car made a pass on a two lane road and was split in half by an oncoming pickup truck in Hiedelberg Township.
According to state police, Russell Jacoby, 17, and Angelica Elizabeth Fox, 17, were heading east with two other teens on Mountain Road when the driver went into the westbound lane to pass another car. When attempting to move back into the eastbound lane, the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit an oncoming pickup truck. The car the teens were driving in was split in half and all the passengers were ejected.
Jacoby and Fox were pronounced dead at the scene. Their two passengers, whom police only identified as a 17 year-old boy from Walnutport and a 16 year-old girl from Slatington, were seriously injured and flown to an area hospital.
The two occupants of the pickup truck, Scott and Deborah Pace, both 51, were injured. According to a Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest spokesman, Deborah Pace remains in critical condition. Scott Pace is expected to make a full recovery.
