Ravi Bhanvadia, a third-year at UCR, passed away in the early morning of December 13, 2009 from a car accident. Bhanvadia, 20, lost control of his Honda Civic while driving south on Canyon Crest Drive when he struck a curb and slammed into a tree and a street light.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:50 a.m. according to the Riverside County coroner’s office press release. Rain and poor road conditions are believed to have contributed to the accident, though it appears that Bhanvadia may also have been speeding.
The accident is currently under investigation.
