Legal News from Patrick: The Firm’s Research Expert
The Deratany Firm is taking cases relating to a pipe that leaked tritated water at the Dresden Generating Station. The EPA has established a safe-water drinking limit of 20,000 picocures of tritium per liter of water. The water found in a monitoring well contained 3.2 million picocuries – about 160 times the EPA’s safe level. Exposure to high levels of tritium increases the risk of developing cancer. Tritium has a half life of 120 years, which will cause the leak to exist in the water for 120 years.
