Kara Skorupa, Chicago Personal Injury Attorney
Ms. Skorupa was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Florida in 1991 and then earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida’s College of Law in 1994. In 1996, Kara Skorupa earned her L.L.M. in Health Law from the DePaul University in Chicago which is an advanced post-doctoral law degree. Prior to completing her L.L.M., Ms. Skorupa gained experience in real estate law and personal injury while working in the Chicago legal community.
After completing her formal education, Ms. Skorupa became a staff attorney with the Social Security Administration’s Office of Hearings and Appeals in Chicago which allowed her to utilize her specialized education. Ms. Skorupa received even more training while with the Social Security Administration and wrote decisions for administrative law judges across the entire country.
In 1999, Ms. Skorupa relocated to the Atlanta area and became a federal investigator for the United States Department of Labor’s Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration. As a federal investigator, Ms. Skorupa was charged with the duty of enforcing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (“ERISA”) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) for the Southeastern United States.
Ms. Skorupa went into private practice in 2004 with her father, Mr. Edward O’Hara, in an effort to establish a quality law firm as a family-run business. A member of the Florida Bar, Ms. Skorupa has also been admitted to the Illinois Bar as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the Northern District of Illinois.
Ms. Skorupa is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
