  • 3-Year-Old Boy Suffers Traumatic Brain Injury

[ May 5, 2010 | Jay Paul Deratany | Posted in Brain Injury, Chicago ]

FAIRFIELD, Ohio — A Tri-state family is asking for prayers after a 3-year-old boy is critically injured.

At first, relatives were told he fell but now questions are being raised about how he sustained a traumatic brain injury.

Baley Wilson is recovering at Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

Emergency crews rushed him to the Columbus hospital after his caregiver brought him to a hospital in Hillsboro.

Lori and Dave Reaves of Fairfield are Baley’s grandparents.

Last week, they received a call from Baley’s mom that he was being rushed to the hospital. Baley was with a caregiver while she was at work.

The caregiver told them Baley fell.

At Children’s Hospital In Columbus, doctors said the little boy suffered a traumatic brain injury.

“They have told my daughter that he will never be the same,” said Lori Reaves.

“And as they released more information that’s when they listed it as Shaken Baby Syndrome. There is no way the damage was done by a fall which was the story we got at the beginning,” said Dave Reaves.

An investigation is now underway. No charges have been filed.

The Reaves are focused on Baley’s recovery and have set up a prayer chain through a page on Facebook.

“He’s taken amazing steps this past week. Part of it is his strength and will and just being Baley,” said Lori Reaves. “We just want him home that’s all we want, just pray.”

A trust fund for Baley has been set up and donations can be made at any Fifth Third Bank.
